Hello dear Terrarists,

Orientation is over for now! I hope everyone had fun and hopefully it won't be too hard catching up on our schoolwork. ): Of course, I need to thank all the O1 OGLs for all the hard work and help this week. Thanks so much for sacrificing your time to help us out, Orientation would not have been a success without you! I understand it was difficult and I'm very grateful for everything. :) Thanks guys! :DDD

And I'm sorry to OG18 and the OGLs for being so MIA the whole week! I'll try to be more involved during O2. X)

Also many thanks to the OGL dancers who worked so hard to put up an awesome show. :DD I'm really sorry I can't dance well, but I'll do my best for O2! Oh and please come down for dance practice this week:

Hello dear OGLs,

Hope you had a great weekend! :D Orientation begins tomorrow! Woohoo! X)

Anyway, here are some important updates for the week:

1. OGLs participateing in JH Orientation will be excused from class at 11.20am (take note, changed already) on Monday, 11th January. Please tell your teacher and leave class on time. At 11.20am, go to the hall. :)

2. From Tuesday to Friday, 12th to 15th January, OGLs are excused from all classes. This is only for OGLs doing JH Orientation.

3. But, JC2 OGLs still must go for the extra Maths and Econs lectures (after the day's programme). :( Again, this is only for JH Orientation OGLs. :(

4. Informal Walk-In is on Friday night, and this is for all OGLs, including those not doing JH Orientation. Please make sure you keep that time free! :) :)

5. OGLs doing only SH Orientation, not the JH Orientation, must go for lessons this week as usual. :(

6. Tomorrow, 11th January, all OGLs are to wear full grey for lessons and for the Orientation programmes. :( :( Please remember! :)

Some of our OGLs will no longer be participating in Orientation, so I made some changes to the groupings to try to please everyone! Please check through and see if you are okay with this. If you really want to change your group, please call Joshua by 11pm tonight! :D

Dance Practice

Dear Terra OGLs

Hi there! Hopefully you all have been having great fun!

And hopefully you guys can still remember the dance steps we learnt last week!

Anyway, if you missed the last practice, or if you can't remember the dance steps already, don't worry. We will continue the walk-in practices on 21, 22, and 23 Dec, that's Monday to Wednesday next week. We will dance from 11am until 3pm each day and we will maybe provide some light refreshments too! (hopefully, no promises though) ^^

If you can't come for all those 3 days, just try to come down on the days you can then. (:

Oh and on the 22nd we have the luxury of Dance Studio 2! So do try to make it on that day so that we can enjoy the awesome aircon and see our reflections in the mirror as we dance. Hahaha. :D

Next, we'll show you all the OG allocations next week too! (((:

OGLs and Orientation

Dear Terrarists,

Hi there lovelies! Hope you all have been enjoying your holidays and started on the insane holiday homework! X) If you haven't started, it's time to do so! Hahaha. :)

Here's a very gentle reminder about our very first official OGL session next week! I know we have been very naggy and have been sending lots of annoying SMSes to remind you but we hope you don't mind! :p

We're very sorry about the confusion regarding our banner painting sessions. The banner painting and dance practice sessions will not take place this week, but will begin next week. Our first OGL session will be on 8th December 9.00am at the Amphitheatre, where we will meet you guys for the first time and start with banner painting!

I really hope we can all try our best to make it on this day, so that we can all do our part in painting the Lovely Green Banner that is much nicer than all the other banners! :D In addition, we will also be learning the Very Awesome Dance that is nicer than all the other dances.

For those who will, most unfortunately, not be able to join us, we will try our best to arrange another session for you guys! And, please remember to read the extremely long SMS that we sent you today and reply to Joshua soon! (Joshua's number is in the SMS) Thanks so much we really appreciate your understanding! Hello dear awesome lovely Terrarists!

Greetings from the 42nd Terra HAT.

The Terrablog is not dead anymore! X) We promise a fun exciting new year ahead for everyone!

Now, thanks so much to everybody who applied to be an OGL! Orientation is going to be really awesome with you guys around, thanks for volunteering your precious time! We love you! <3

And please check this blog regularly for all kinds of updates! These few weeks are going to be really busy but fun too! We'll be using this blog very often now. (:

If you are not an OGL, don't feel left out or anything like that because you can still be part of the awesome Orientation experience! Just join in and have fun, because we are going to be the best as usual.

Welcome to all the new terrarists who will be joining our big family and to all the others, welcome to a new year of school....Ok, let's not allow me spoil the mood.

Here, i am announcing that there will be a House outing on the 24th of this month, at Sentosa( seniors, i know). This is a little outing to introduce the juniors to the seniors in the house, welcome the new terrarist class and giving our best wishes to all those who will be leaving our house for another. Sports equipments such as basketball and volleyballs will be provided, together with some snacks. Time of the activity will start at 2pm,meaning we will al meet up at vivo at 2pm!! We will all have lunch together,then head to sentosa for some sun and games. Hope that more seniors will be able to join us! Bring more snacks to share!

Hi Terrarists,

Wow! November has been one fast moving month! For us J1/IP3s, PW is now long past and for the seniors, all the papers should be finished! Our hardwork shall be rewarded with good results, so for now, just go have fun!

The Terra HAT is now trying to have a outing planned on the 11th or 12th of December. Essentially, this outing is more like a day camp where there will be activities planned for all to take part in.

Here is what we are looking at right now:

1.00pm Meeting up of Terrarists
1.00pm -1.30pm Short briefing on the day
1.30pm – 2.15pm Flag making competition
2.15pm -4.00pm Captain’s ball
4.00pm – 5.00pm War Game
5.30pm -7.00pm Dinner or Barbeque
7.00pm – 8.00pm Campfire

Now we are still trying to decide the location for this day camp, some examples are: the school, west coast park, sentosa and east coast park.

Due to all the activities, we might need to get a bit of cash from everyone that is going, but it will definitely be a small sum.

So, a poll will soon be set up to collate the results for this! Do support the new initiative!

TERRA Updates!!

Here, we would like to thank everyone for their support during the house session. We will definitely try our best to keep you updated always and surprised by our new initiatives, so keep your eyes wide open for them! Now, for the next big thing......

The National Day Celebration Preparations!!

Just to let you now for sure,the National day celebrations will be held on the 8Th of august, and on that day, each house will be putting up a short performance, based on the variety show “超极变变变“ as part of the NE cup contest.( sorry to those out there who do not understand Mandarin) We are now in search of volunteers like you to help us with the preparations for the performance and the performance itself. Please come down to the back of the grandstand if you can make it on any of these dates:

• 26th(11.00 am)
• 28th from 4.30 onwards
• 29th from 4.30 onwards
• 30th from 4.30 onwards and
• 31st of July (from 4.30 onwards).

This is going to be a big production, so please try to come help us out. Any form of help by you would be greatly appreciated! Points will also be awarded based on the level of participation from each class, to help in the nomination of the “most enthusiastic TERRA class of the year” award! So please head down to help us out on any of the days! Thanks!

Sorry for the slow updates,here's your post for July!

Congrats to those who have survived their CTs. We've did it!!!

To those who have done quite well for their CTs,great job! and as for those didnt do as well as they were hoping for, dont worry! you will do better next time! My results are really bad too anyway. haha.

Coming up soon as a challenge shield event would be the 'Let's Get Kicking!' event by SOCCER. Below is a sample of how the registration form looks like:

Each team is to comprise of 6 players, with a minimum of 2 girls. There can be at most 2 soccer guys in your team. During play, there must be at least 1 girl out on the field. besides that, there's also a registration fee of $10 (to buy the prizes) and the registration closes on MONDAY 14th JULY. The matches will take place on the 17th and 18th of July!

Spaces are limited,so come and find any of the new HAT members if you are interested. It DOESN't matter if u can't get yourself a team, we will definitely help you out. Since this is a house competition, remember, your WHOLE team will have to be TERRARISTS if you wanna help the house rise in rankings( please do so!)!!you will also have to wear your house tee shirt.
SO, for those of you out there still hot from soccer fever, get a team within TERRA and sign up with the HAT soon!!

Terra is the overall runners-up for the Newspaper and Can tab Recycling Competition!!! Thanks to those who helped to bring the recycling materials to school!

As Investiture is just 2 days away, the 40th SC batch of Terra HAT would like to thank every single Terrarist who have helped us in one way or another, to bring Terra to greater heights. Without your help, support and presence, we wont have achieved what we had achieved this past year. Once again, thanks! Thanks for bringing (a lot) newspapers this past few weeks or collecting can tabs on your own this past month(s)! Also, thanks to those who went out with us to collect newspapers and can tabs in the afternoons and staying till the evenings to tie and label them in school.

Thanks for putting in so much effort in this competition and I'm sure your efforts did not go to waste as...

We're 2nd for newspaper collection!
(The results for can tabs is not released yet because they haven't finish counting the number of can tabs!)

There's one more competition to the end of this term, which is the Track and Field Meet, now known as the NJC Relay Championships. Jiayou to those running in the heats on Tuesday and a job well done to those who ran in the heats on Thursday and Friday! Quite a few teams were among the top 3 in their respective events during the heats! So hopefully, Terra's flag will appear the most number of times at the podium on 7 May! Also, remember to support the Terra teachers who will be running in the Staff Race on 7 May! Cheer them and your classmates on! :)

We'll post the results of the can tab collection and the relay championships once we get it, together with the photos from the relay championships heats and finals!

Recycling Competition

It's once again the time of the year when everyone starts bringing can tabs and newspapers to school! The Recycling Competition is here again so remember to collect can tabs and newspapers and you can start bringing them to school on Monday, 7th April 2008. Just pass it to your House Affiliate every morning during assembly! Or if you already have some and want to pass it up earlier, also can! The collection lasts for over a week.

It's a house competition, so if you want Terra to win, here's a chance to contribute to the house and do your house proud! :)

(Its better to have some food before 1pm so that once we reach Sentosa, we can go to the beach and have fun!! :D )

Hello TERRARISTS!!!

How did you find Chinese New Year celebrations in school today? We kicked off the day with a blast in the fashion parade, and then the calligraphy and paper cutting competition! Of course there was also the lantern making competition before that. We hope that you all enjoyed today as much as we did! :) A very big thank you to everyone who helped out in one way or another!

Chinese New Year is indeed a time to indulge yourselves and catch up with your families and relatives, so do go ahead and have fun! Ah yes, but of course not forgetting catching up on schoolwork too!

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TERRARISTS!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO Orientation was over a week ago and we really hope you guys had a blast!!! A big THANK YOU to all the freshmen for being ever so enthusiastic, from the Walk-In to Station Games to The Quest to the Dance Competition to War Games to the DANCE PARTY and right till the very end of the 5 day Programme. You guys were simply awesome and we believe everyone including all the WONDERFUL TYRAZ OGLS had an experience of a lifetime. Most importantly, remember to bring forward the experience of Orientation throughout your stay in NJC, cherishing all the friendships you have forged during this period and continue to find joy and fun in whatever you do (:

With that, we now move on to the first NE Cup event of the year: CNY!!!!!

Chinese New Year Celebrations this year will take place on the 6th of February. There are 3 House events under this year's CNY (:

Fashion Show
One representative from each house will dress up as 福，禄，寿，喜，财，运，wearing a suitable costume. (福 – terra, 禄 – lignum, 寿-- solaris, 喜-aqua, 财- ignis, 运- aerius) The traditional costume can made using any materials, including recycled materials.
On the day itself, the emcee will introduce福，禄，寿，喜，财，运 one by one as if it is a fashion show. The representatives are expected to bring little gifts to distribute to the students to bring up the atmosphere. They are also encouraged to continue wearing their costumes for the entire day.

Lantern-making Competition
Every class will submit a hand-made lantern. The theme for this competition is '鼠年'. There is no restriction to the materials used to make the lantern. The dimensions of the lantern should be roughly 50cm X 50cm. The lanterns will be judged by the teachers and put up along the stretch of corridor outside the I&E hub.

Calligraphy and Jianzhi Competitions
The competitions will be held on the day of the celebrations itself. Each class will send 4 representatives to take part in both competitions each.

Don't limit your creativity for the Lantern-Making Competition, and most importantly, HAVE FUN MAKING IT TOGETHER AS A CLASS (: (Trust us when we say that lantern making is highly addictive)

Oh, and calligraphy is very fun as well (: If possible, try to send a non-Chinese representative from your class and let them have fun experiencing the Chinese culture (:

Hey!

How was Orientation? Was it fun for you so far? I bet it was! :)

Looking back, we had Station Games on Tuesday, The Quest on Wednesday and today we had the Inter-gang Mass Dance Competition which saw Tyraz rock the house! 3 Cheers to Edison from OG 5 and Audrey from OG 11 who paired up and came in 1st for the song Till the Dawn! Not forgetting Manuel and Yu Hui, both from OG 17 who came in Runners-up for the song You Can't Stop the Beat! Also, well done each and every Tyrazian who cheered his or her lungs out today for our dancers! You guys did a fabulous job and I believe the seniors are very proud of each and every one of you! You have proven to other houses and gangs that we shouldnt be messed with!

We hope that you have enjoyed the Gang bonding sessions so far as we had a lot of fun organising the "Guess the Secondary School" Game, the Cheering Competition and the Captain's Ball Competition! We hope that you would enjoy the "Auctioning Game" tomorrow too!

The REAL NJC Orientation starts tomorrow! It’s finally time to have lots of fun! Mass dance, Station games, The Quest, War Games and Campfire are just some of the many activities that await you in the coming week. Not only are you guys excited, even the OGLs are excited! :)

The new Terra Classes for the Year 2008 are 08IP02, 08S05, 08S11, 08S17 and 08S20. Due to a decreased intake this year, there is no 08S23 and 08S24. Hence, seniors from 07S24, don't worry, you can always adopt the J1s from 08S20 as your juniors! :)

As we love to start a brand new year with a bang, look out for new Terra merchandises and initiatives this coming year. If you have noticed the Tyraz OGLs carefully, most of them are already wearing the new Terra Wristbands during the first week of Orientation. If you haven’t noticed, don't worry, you are bound to notice it on Monday as all the new intakes of the Tyraz Gang would be given the wristbands on that day (replacing the old green cloth wristbands)!

Here's a preview of how the wristbands look like! Isn't it nice?

Remember the old Terra Weekly? Instead of getting one copy per class, this year, you might find the Terra e-weekly delivered right to your inbox! We promise you it would be juicier, more interactive and don’t forget, you can read it anytime you want, in the comforts of your home!

Want to get the Informal House T-shirt but do not know how to get it? Don’t worry. We would be giving out a survey form soon to each Terra Class to see whether we should reprint the T-shirt or not. So if you want it, look out for the survey form that would circulate in your class soon!

To the J2s and IP4s, it’s our important year once again! Study hard and wish you all the best for this year!

To the J1s and IP1s who just joined our house, welcome to Terra House and we hope that you would enjoy yourself in Terra in your 2 or 4 years in NJC!

Hey Terrarists!

Welcome to our new Terra Blog! Many thanks to Cheryl (from 07IP02) who helped design the nice blogskin for our blog. (:

First. Some updates.

Our clan name for Orientation 2008 is Tyraz.

And for those who don't know yet, the theme for next year is Step Up.

Yup.

To the Terra OGL applicants, by now, you should have received either an SMS or a call from one of the HAT members regarding your interview results. If you havent, don't worry! hahax. Must be because we can't contact you. There is a Tyraz OGL outing on ~~Tuesday~~ Friday, so hopefully most of you can go. Details are as follows:

Tyraz OGL Outing

16 November, Friday. Meet at Seoul Garden, Taka at 1pm. Will catch a movie or something like that after lunch. Erm. Remember to bring money. hahax. Those who cant join us at 1, feel free to come at a later time!

The OGL list will be finalised over the weekend and by Wednesday, it will be posted here.
